American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History is huge complex of 27 interconnected buildings. It’s one of the largest museums in the world. It has an enormous collection of minerals, rocks, fossils and artifacts from human’s and animal’s natural history and evolution.
Even if you decide to visit only the permanent collection you’ll need at least a day. In the permanent exhibition, you can see displays showing the biodiversity and environmental evolution of the earth and nature, or in the birds and reptiles halls you can explore different species and learn about their habitats.
There are also fossil halls, mammals halls, a space discovery hall and hall of human origins and culture, where you can go through human’s evolution.
The current exhibitions change featuring themes about dinosaurs, insects, exploration and knowledge about space and earth.
Tickets: Standard adult tickets cost $22, or you can pay for a night at the museum, to explore the museum alone, participate in games and have a snack. Children between 6-16 years are allowed to sleepover. This will cost you $145 standard price.

Museum of Modern Art / MoMA

MoMA is the dream of every lover of contemporary and modern art. MoMA currently has 200 000 works of nearly 10 000 modern artists, starting from sculptures, paintings, photographs, to films, installations and performance arts.
Some of the highlights of the MoMA are artists like Marcel Duchamp, Van Gogh, Matisse and Chagall, Salvador Dali and Kandinsky, Frida Kahlo Willem de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, the minimalists Dan Flavin, Robert Morris, Donald Judd and much, much more.
In MoMA you can see examples of each and every art movement from the 20thcentury. The current exhibitions show fresh and new contemporary artists from all over the world or curator’s looks towards some of the most memorable artists and movements from the previous century. You can watch performance acts, watch films or participate in workshops. You should never miss MoMA, it’s great experience!

Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art or also called The Met is divided into three major parts, The Met at Fifth Avenue, The Met Cloisters, and The Met Breuer, which is dedicated to the contemporary art of 20th and 21st century. We will tell about the Met of Fifth Avenue, the biggest part of the museum.
There you can see 5000 years of art from all over the world. The museum’s collections display armor and weapons, musical instruments, clothing, along with art from Egypt, Asia, Africa, India and the Islamic world. The Met has gathered all the diversity of art and history. You can go through Greek and Roman art and sculptures, early and late European paintings, as well as American art. You can sigh for a guided tour every day to see the museum’s highlights.
Tickets: Standard adult tickets for all parts of the museum/ visited at one day/ is $25. The Met offer visiting the museum before it’s opening hours, when the halls are empty of crowd- tickets for individual admission start from $100.

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

The Guggenheim Foundation has three museums. One is in NYC, one in Venice and one in Bilbao. NYC’s Guggenheim museums features more than 7000 works of art, of artists from the 20th century and includes big names in both its permanent and temporary collection.
In the NYC collection you’ll be able to see works of Moholy-Nagy, Cezanne, Gaugin, Miro, Degas and also Matthew Barney, Georg Baselitz, Francis Bacon, Ai Wei Wei and more.
Don’t miss the current exhibitions, they travel the world, starting or ending at the Guggenheim NYC.
Tickets: Adults will pay $28 and students $18. Every Saturday between 5:45pm and 7:45pm visitors can pay what they wish.
Opening Hours: Mon- Sun from 10am to 5:45pm, except Thursdays, when is closed and Saturday opened until 7:45pm

The Cloisters

The Cloisters is museum, part of The Met displaying medieval European architecture, decorative art and sculpture. It’s situated at Washington Heights, thanks to the support of Rockefeller, who acquired the original collection.
The Museum show mainly Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture. The four cloisters are installed, taken from French monasteries. The cloisters are surrounded by smaller chapels, built in the spirit of medieval Europe. They show, how architecture and interiors, looked like during the mid centuries.
Along with the architectural tour, you’ll be able to walk around the gardens, which contain more than 250 plants, typical for medieval period.
Tickets: Full ticket for the The Met Museum- adults $25.
Opening Hours: March-October from 10am to 5:15pm, May-Sept to 7:30pm and Nov-Feb closes at 4:45pm

Whitney Museum of American Art

The Whitney Museum of American Art displays eight floors of all kinds of artworks of the American art history since 1900 until present days. You can see paintings, sculptures, prints, films, installations and photography.
Some of the highlighted artists, shown in the Whitney Museum are ackson Pollock, Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Mark Rothko, Chuck Close, Cindy Sherman, and Roy Lichtenstein, Hopper, Alexander Calder, Marina Abramovic.
You can follow the development of art, going through different movements and influences, walking in the halls. The temporary exhibitions feature contemporary working artists and selections of works of the living artists from the 20th century. At their annual Biennal, Whitney show younger authors to the public.

Museum of Arts and Design

The Museum of Arts and Design/MAD/ displays objects and works of craft and design, as well as objects from everyday life. You can see jewel exhibitions, wooden objects, metal designer’s plates, tools, furniture and textiles and quilt works. You’ll be able to explore works of art and design form the 50’s and the 60’s to completely modern deigns of our decade.
Current exhibitions are always worth to see, they display contemporary international designers, featuring plastics, furniture design, jewelry design, ceramics and more interesting exhibitions rolling over the year. You can also visit open artist studios
